Joya Spa at Montelucia Resort
I always know when I have an extraordinary massage. Something about the service makes me want to exclaim out loud to the therapist, “I love you”. Fortunately, to date, I’ve been able to save both myself and the poor therapist from that awkward moment. However, my recent experience at Joya Spa at the luxurious Montelucia Resort (in one of the Terrace Suites, no less) in Scottsdale, AZ with Angela tested me dearly. You see… Angela created the Restorative Sleep Massage. In fact, she began the session by telling me it was the equivalent of a baby to her. With that said, I knew with certainty I was in extraordinarily good hands. Not surprisingly, the Moroccan-themed spa has representations of the Hand of Fatima throughout the space, which symbolizes healing and protection. It proved I was doubly blessed with a good treatment before the experience began!
The offering is a combination of an aromatherapy massage, reflexology and the spa’s signature serenity foot wrap. The goal of the service is to promote restful, quality sleep.
The great thing about the spa is all the attention to details. There are so many thoughtful, purposeful touches. On your way to the relaxation lounge, you will find yourself walking through an area called the joy of intention. As you enter, you are asked to select among five stones that pertain to love (Rose Quartz), work (Rhodonite), health (Hematite), clarity (Tiger Eye) and strength (Blue Lace Agate). You are asked to select one that you want to focus on in your life and place it in a blessing bowl. They also have a huge glowing crystal from Brazil that is said to deflect negativity, relieve stress and ease your troubles via the joy of purification.
Should you find yourself in the Greater Phoenix area, be sure to enjoy one of the rituals at Joya Spa. The staff will certainly help you focus on your highest intention and help you soak away your stress.
