Spa Grande at Grande Wailea Resortt

As you walk into the doors of Spa Grande at the Grand Wailea Resort & Spa in Maui, Hawaii, you are immediately immersed in luxury. From the chandeliers to the ornate sculptures and details around the circular front entrance room, there is nothing left undone. Spa Grande offers many treatments, marrying techniques from both eastern and western philosophies, as well as traditional Hawaiian practices. Regardless of what treatment you chose, each begins with an hour in the Termé Hydrotherapy Circuit. This circuit is made up of five aromatic baths, a Cascading Waterfall Massage, a Roman Hot Tub, a Cold Plunge Pool, a Swiss Jet Shower, a Eucalyptus Steam room and a Redwood Sauna room. On top of all this you also receive a personal Honey Mango loofah body polish. Evidently, by the time you get to your treatment, you are already extremely relaxed. My favorite experience in this circuit was definitely the personal Honey Mango loofah body polish, which left my skin extremely soft and smelling great.
The treatment I received was the Pohaku. This was described as a “Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage with hot lava stones to melt away tension.” My therapist’s name was Glenny and she did an amazing job. She was very attentive and asked about the pressure and temperature of the stones more than once (which I appreciated as I am sensitive to both pressure and heat). Compared to other stone massages, the Pohaku uses less stones, however I did not mind because the therapist used her hands as well. The combination of hands and stones made for a very pleasant experience and I can say that I now prefer it to a normal hot stone massage. The 50 minutes flew by (as they always do when getting a massage) and I would definitely recommend splurging for the 80 minutes instead. I believe this would make the experience feel more complete and less like it was cut short. Overall I recommend Spa Grande to anyone looking for more than just the usual treatment. Make sure to not rush the visit and be prepared to spend around 2 hours at the spa in order to get the full experience.
