The true test for any lip product is the holiday party season. Now that the cocktail parties and New Year’s celebrations have ended, I can truly say that Lime Crime’s Velvetine lipstick in Suedeberry delivers. Inspired by the velvety texture of rose petals, matte velvetine lipstick provides a look that is bold, edgy, and romantic all in one.
The most standout features of the product have to be the high pigmentation and the long-lasting results. After swiping one liquid coat across my lips it became clear that Lime Crime doesn’t make products for the timid (in a good way). Lime Crime is known for the wide range of colors with hues that pop so no surprise there. The unique matte finish and lasting results are major bonuses in my book. As with most matte lipsticks, the product can be a bit drying so I recommend exfoliating and moisturizing before applying.
The Velvetine lip stains come in a tube with an applicator much like that of lip gloss so I used a liner before applying the color (it’s nearly impossible to create a perfectly clean line otherwise). I decided to go with the Suedeberry color but you can go darker with Red Velvet or Pink Velvet for a playful pop of color. Overall, I was thrilled to have the Velvetine lip stain in my makeup bag this holiday season and the Suedeberry color is just the right pinkish red for the bright look a girl can rock on a regular basis.
