Spa treatments for the Winter Holidays at V Spa

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…The holiday season is in full swing at the V spa where you can try 7 brand new holiday-inspired spa treatments.  (And Marianne and I were off to try some of them!!)

V spa is currently offering a chocolate mousse Mask with peppermint scalp massage and chocolate body massage, a spiced hot stone massage, a peppermint chocolate facial as well as a manicure or pedicure, a mistletoes manicure and pedicure and the Signature treatment, which is always on the menu, the Lavish luxury facial, but you can get in the spirit with the traditional holiday aromas like cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.

Marianne was first up to try out the holiday inspired massage…

And she could not find a better way to gear up for the stress that the holidays can bring then with a massage!  The holidays always sneak up on her, so this massage was a welcomed experience.

The holiday Spiced Hot Stone Massage was perfect for the cold weather. The oil was lightly scented and she found it nice to have a warm and cozy treatment.

Next up, I had the chance to experience the Lavish Luxury Facial… and I have to admit I was so excited because my esthetician had the most amazing skin!  It is always fantastic advertising!!

The treatment used the Om Aroma product line and the facial had an indulgent array of ingredients used and includes champagne, caviar and truffles.  And I must say my skin looked great afterwards!!

The spa is located in the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, TX in the Verandah Club.  The adjoining fitness center (a fine opportunity to combat all the extra food and drinks of the season) has all both a ladies only section for your hydro experience including steam, sauna and whirlpool as well as co-ed section.  You will have to make sure to arrive early to enjoy the facilities.

Surely you will be able to get into the holiday spirit.

You can book any of the treatments now by calling 214.761.7800

Costa Ric-ahhh!!! Enjoy Pura Vida

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

As I drove the road to find Pura Vida, I was thinking where the? – how the? what the? And most of all….who the? Extraordinarily close to the San Jose airport you will drive through the heart of the city and emerge in a place that seems very far away from urban life.  Really…who was the visionary that conjured up this place???

(On a side note and an important piece of info if you plan to drive yourself… I must state that Costa Rica is a country with the most rudimentary map system – people really do tell you to turn left at the fourth mango tree). But amazingly you will find yourself accurately and fantastically right where you need to be.

The grounds of Pura Vida are something close to mystical, the sort of place you might find yourself reading about as a child. Out of the city emerges land that completely and wholly takes you away from it all. As you climb the road higher and higher, you will find yourself in the most incredible place.
Surrounded by a coffee plantation, Pura Vida is a place where you can go to have a transformation of the most positive kind. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the warm and friendly Pura Vida staff. A variety of accommodations to suit your budget and travel style are available ranging from tentalows, to standard rooms, deluxe rooms, Pagodas and Suites are available. Delightful food is served and you can expect a great variety of nutritious offerings. The eating area is lovely and you may find that you want to sit with a cup of tea and wash your troubles away with the beauty and utter feeling of peace.

On the property grounds you will find yogis and yoginis walking around everywhere. This is a place where many talented yoga instructors take their clientele for instruction and a place to learn a deeper practice. There are several classes offered throughout the day if you happen to be there on your own. You may also want to enjoy the spa services that are offered on a first come, first served basis. So low key, scheduling occurs by going to the treatment room area where you will find clip boards with the treatments offered and the background of the therapists.

I wasn’t able to stay long at all, but will know for the next time to settle in to peace, the opportunity to feel vibrantly healthy and enjoy the chance to just be at Pura Vida.
