Domo Loves Tea – I LOVE Domo!!!

One of my favorite things in life is finding things that other people haven’t experienced yet.  So to say I was delighted to find Domo is an understatement.  I’ve had an affinity the past few years for tea that continues to grow exponentially.  (It didn’t hurt this correlates with reading  a blurb about a lady whose claim to lasting youth was drinking loads of tea!)  As you can imagine, finding a tea related product that I’ve neither seen nor experienced before made me downright giddy.

Hovering in a great little specialty grocery store on a trip this year to Vancouver, I found Domo.  Beautifully packaged, it stood out in a crowd of beverages!

What is matcha exactly??

19. No purchase or payment of any consideration is necessary to enter the contest.

20. Except in the case of contests in which winners are selected as outlined in clause 18(c), each contest will state a deadline for entry and the date when the winner(s) will be announced. Winners of contests run in accordance with clause 18(c) will be announced the day the action is completed. A list of winner(s) may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped (first-class postage) envelope to THE SPA BUZZ and requesting the list.

21. THE SPA BUZZ reserves the right to condition the award of prizes upon the execution by the winner(s) of a publicity release. Notwithstanding this reserved right, entry is conclusively deemed to be permission by the entrant to use the entrant’s name (without compensation to the entrant) if the entrant is a winner to publicize the contest and otherwise, as determined by THE SPA BUZZ, unless prohibited by law.

22. THE SPA BUZZ reserves the right to require the winner to execute an affidavit of eligibility as a sworn document and provide other proof of eligibility as a condition of receipt of the prize or award.

Shoes that really do – Love you

The Spa Buzz has a lot of  spa industry events every year and one of its most consistent sponsoring partners from the start has been Oka B.

The coolest thing about working with Oka B is to watch just how excited spas get over their shoes.  They are cute, they are clever, they have a very thoughtful, functional approach to their design.  They are American made, they are environment conscious and have instituted a very innovative recycling program.

The design of the shoes have integrated principles of reflexology in the footbed.  They are antimicrobial, waterproof and washable.  They are so comfortable!!!

If you think I am gushing… you should have seen a group of spa leaders extol about the shoes.  It was quite funny… stories of wearing them for an entire Summer and wearing them everywhere.

Spa treatments for the Winter Holidays at V Spa

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…The holiday season is in full swing at the V spa where you can try 7 brand new holiday-inspired spa treatments.  (And Marianne and I were off to try some of them!!)

V spa is currently offering a chocolate mousse Mask with peppermint scalp massage and chocolate body massage, a spiced hot stone massage, a peppermint chocolate facial as well as a manicure or pedicure, a mistletoes manicure and pedicure and the Signature treatment, which is always on the menu, the Lavish luxury facial, but you can get in the spirit with the traditional holiday aromas like cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.

Marianne was first up to try out the holiday inspired massage…

And she could not find a better way to gear up for the stress that the holidays can bring then with a massage!  The holidays always sneak up on her, so this massage was a welcomed experience.

The holiday Spiced Hot Stone Massage was perfect for the cold weather. The oil was lightly scented and she found it nice to have a warm and cozy treatment.

Next up, I had the chance to experience the Lavish Luxury Facial… and I have to admit I was so excited because my esthetician had the most amazing skin!  It is always fantastic advertising!!

The treatment used the Om Aroma product line and the facial had an indulgent array of ingredients used and includes champagne, caviar and truffles.  And I must say my skin looked great afterwards!!

The spa is located in the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, TX in the Verandah Club.  The adjoining fitness center (a fine opportunity to combat all the extra food and drinks of the season) has all both a ladies only section for your hydro experience including steam, sauna and whirlpool as well as co-ed section.  You will have to make sure to arrive early to enjoy the facilities.

Modern Meditations * A great new choice for Spa Music

As I type this post I am reminded just how much I need a massage.  It seems like all of a sudden I am getting way too many kinds of crazy, wacky, uncalled for kinks and dull aches.  Just last week I bought a wrist brace and a knee brace… really – what gives?  I can now add them to my arsenal with my back brace and Shoulders Back contraption — while I am at it I might as well dig out my retainer too!  Oh dear,  going off subject so I will get to the point!!!

Several weeks ago I received 2 cd’s in the Modern Meditations collection and I have to say they are fantastic.

It has always been hard for me to understand the overabundance of water music in the spa.  I don’t know about you, but I tend to take full advantage of hydrating while I am there.  Tea, water, lovely vitamin infused beverages – so add the sounds of trickling water and midway through my treatment — well, you surely get my point.  And the bird sounds, I can’t even get started.  I know birds are beautiful and nature is lovely – but they remind me of early Spring and being coerced out of sleep by the incessant chirping doesn’t induce relaxation.

Which all leads me back to having such a wonderful new option for spa music.  Time at the spa is about creating an experience that suits the individual.  Everyone has a unique purpose and a unique kind of music that suits the massage they receive.  The modern meditations albums have soothing versions of  some songs by Coldplay, U2, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and more.  If you are looking for something new and a wonderful blend of music you recognize for the times when you want to create a relaxed atmosphere these collections are a must.

In fact, I think that the music coupled with a therapeutic massage will be just the thing to take away all the recently developed physical and mental strains.

An Anti-Shoe – Sign me up

I don’t know about you.  BUT… for the life of me, I simply cannot wear fancy, crazy heeled shoes.  I do realize that there is a large contingent of people who adore shoes, go out of their way to build footwear closets and create foot wardrobes, base their first impressions on shoes and more.  I just don’t get it.  They hurt.  Podiatrists and shoe salespeople might agree they have seen the damages, but the love far outweighs the cost.

Not for me.

I have been heckled since the day I walked out of my parent’s house (initially with the barrier of bushes to hide my feet) to the dismay of my friends in fine clothes visible — only to get beyond the camouflage of brush… hideously revealing my running shoes.  And the ladies who wear running shoes with their business attire, I silently applaud you for your dedication to well-being!!  Fashion faux-pas be damned.  I choose to be the quirky, eclectic one who basks in comfort of my selection of footwear with a giddy smile and the ability to walk fast.

With that said, you can imagine my delight to find that MBT has chosen to construct a shoe that actually has positive benefits to those that wear them. To name a few Improved posture, numerous sites of the body with more muscle activation, less stress on the joints.  Benefits beyond just being a pretty shoe.

Yes, I said it. Gourmet Lip Balm

Running to catch a bus to Khao Yai it happened.  It was a sad, sad day.  My trusty travel partner had plans of its own — and only 4 days into my time in Thailand!  Assisting me so kindly throughout my treacherous international flight schedule with the promise of being the absolute perfect companion, my Orange Bergamot Brew Crazy Rumors lip balm was gone leaving behind only the cap and memories of what could be.

I know I am being dramatic.  But the truth is I have never used a better lip balm before.  Also known as the Earl Grey brew, Crazy Rumors lip balm dutifully kept my lips the best kind of moisturized.  Not too sticky, not too waxy, not with a weird synthetic flavor — pretty much what I now consider the gold standard for lip balm.
